Meaning of Arabic phrase Innallaha Ma Sabireen:
إِنَّ اللّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ
“Surely, Allah is with those that are patient”
AND
“Verily, Allah is with the patient”
In Hadith it is reported that the The Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (ﷺ) was in a sitting along with His companions (Sahaba) and the Prophet (ﷺ) was asked by his companions, who are you?
The Sahaba companions (Sahaba) declared Ya Rasoolallah (ﷺ) we are Momin and the Prophet (ﷺ) asked about the best example or definition that you would use to define Your Imaan (faith) The Sahaba Ikram stated that there are three illustrations of our Imaan.
- The very first instance is the moment Allah (ﷺ) gives us any kind of difficulty, affliction or trial, we remain patient (Sabr) when we face difficulties.
- When Allah () grants us any Nemat (comfort and ease of eating, or a comfortable lifestyle, etc.) We do Shukr (grateful) for Allah (ﷺ).
- The third one is that we all agreed to every decision made by Allah () who made for us.
- The Sahaba gave these 3 definitions before Rasoolallah. Rasoolallah () that you should keep the faith in times of hardship and trials be grateful for Allah () and accept each decision made by Allah ().
The Prophet Hazrat Mohammad heard this and declared that you are the real Momin and this is the real instance of your Imaan.
This Hadith gives us a message that demonstrates the patience (Sabr) during times of affliction, difficulties and trials is among the main aspects in being a Momin.
The beautiful phrase “Inn Allah M’a As-Saabireen” (إِنَّ اللّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ), which is pronounced as “Innallah M’assaabireen”, literally means “Indeed, The God (Allah) is with the people who have patience”.
Classical Arabic word ‘Saabir’ (صابر) literally means “The one who has patience” and word ‘Saabireen’ (صابرين) is plural form of ‘Saabir’ so it literally means “people who have patience”.
Surely, Allah is with those who are As‑Saabiroon (the patient)”
[al-Anfaal 8:46]
The word “patience” is found in several places in the Quran along with the Sunnah that of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him Peace and peace be upon him). Allah be with him) that demonstrate the merits and power of patience. The Arabic language (Sabr) Patience is the word used to contain or confine.
In Quran Al Kareem, Allah azza-wa-jal has assured those who persevere that He will grant them rewards without limit.
He assures them that he is there with them, leading and helping them and giving them a victory.
Patience is the basis of the faith of the believer, which does not have any other base. There is a lot of judgment behind the tests and trials we encounter during our tough times. Every calamity we encounter and the difficulties that we encounter upon us build character and make us stronger than we were before.
May Allah give us the strength to overcome the challenges with courage.
