Durood Sharif prayer for Muslims is to ask for blessings for the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). History of Durood Sharif

The Quranic verse that reads: “Surely Allah and His angels bless the Prophet; O you who believe! Call for blessings on him and salute him with a worthy salutation.” (Quran 33:56)

When they heard the name of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the Companions would recite Durood Sharif. Muslims all throughout the world still recite the Durood Sharif as has been custom from the beginning of time.

Types of Durood Sharif

Durood-e-Ibrahim:

The Durood-e-Ibrahim is the Durood Sharif that is recited the most frequently. It is chanted during the Salah’s Tashahhud and is also known as Salawat Ibrahim.

Durood-e-Tunajjina:
Salawat Tunajjina is another name for this Durood, Durood-e-Tunajjina. It is repeated to help one’s wants and wishes be satisfied.

Durood-e-Muqaddas:
Salawat Muqaddas is another name for this Durood, Durood-e-Muqaddas. It is repeated to guard against catastrophes and tragedies.

Durood-e-Nahariya:
The Durood-e-Nahariya is chanted in order to have one’s wants and aspirations met.

Durood-e-Shafi’i:
The Shafi’i Durood is chanted to bring about bodily and spiritual health.

Durood-e-Qur’ani: Reciting this Durood will help you succeed and thrive.

Durood-e-Awwal: This Durood is said in gratitude for Allah and the Prophet’s bounties.

Durood-e-Akbar: This Durood is chanted for the satisfaction of one’s wants and wishes as well as for the atonement of sins.

Durood-e-Taaj: This Durood is recited for the fulfillment of one’s needs and desires.
